This post is going to give you some ideas on how to take time out for yourself, don’t feel guilty doing so, it’s really important to make time for yourself.
It’s so hard not to feel guilty for taking time out for yourself when you have an endless list of things to do. But you must! It’s important to stop and do something you love, whatever that might be. If you’re not sure what you like to do anymore, here are some ideas on how to take time out for yourself
Go For A Walk
Walking is a fantastic form of exercise, but find somewhere peaceful and away from the house distractions and it’s such a great way to take time out for yourself. I have a dog so I’m always walking, and if I can’t get out that day for a walk I really struggle in the house. I love that time for fresh air, exercise, and getting away from that list of jobs!
Time For A Tea
I love to sit down with a cup of tea as a way to switch off for a bit, during the summer I stop and take my tea outside and sit in my swing chair in the garden. It’s outside, peaceful, and makes me stop.

I came across the brand Tea & Tonic who is a wellness brand that specialises in 100& natural skincare, and luxury wellness products. All the products are hand-blended, sustainably sourced, vegan, and cruelty-free. They were kind enough to send me a Tea & Tonic Tea Lovers Gift Set as I love to try out new tea flavours, and try new products that can help me switch off.

The Tea & Tonic Tea Lovers Set is filled with luxury items that anyone who loves tea would love to receive. I loved the look of the box when I opened it, it’s something that would make a perfect Mother’s Day gift.
Inside the box was,
- 100g loose Earl Grey Wellness Tea
- Double Walled Borosilicate Glass Bottle Tea Infuser
- 5 tea servings of different flavours
If you received this as a gift it would give you a perfect opportunity to take time out for yourself, the loose tea if placed inside the infuser and left for 3 minutes. Then it’s ready to drink with a dash of milk if you fancy.

Ready A Book or Magazine
I struggle to switch off enough to read a book, but I know how much it helps people to wind down and switch off from their jobs. If you struggle like me to read a book, how about a magazine? I find these easier to read with smaller articles and lots of pictures to look at.
I’ve also found Readly in the lockdown which has so many digital copies of magazines for you to pick from with just one monthly payment. I loved this as I could read so many different subjects, from home interiors, crafting, gardening and travel.
Gardening
Even if you’re not a big gardener, try a little. I find it so relaxing being able to get out in my garden and potter around. Each year I have added more and more plants to my garden, and each year I get more and more addicted!
Pick a small area to start in and learn what amount of sun and soil this area is, and pick some suitable plants from your local garden centre. Watch it grow and get the satisfaction of seeing the flowers growing in your garden. I can guarantee you will find this so rewarding and your want to add more flowers to the garden. Last year I started growing flowers from seeds, not only is it cheaper it’s even more rewarding as you see them grow from seed.
Gaming From Home
You could always look into gaming from home, it doesn’t even have to be on a computer, you could go old school and set up a gaming room in your home with football tables, a dart board, a table for board games, and even check out this review of ping pong tables, this would make a great party room!
I hope this has given you a couple of ideas to help you take some out for yourself, and realise it doesn’t have to be a huge amount of time either, just a simple cup of tea in the garden can help you so much.
